Announcing a new article publication for BIO Integration journal, the authors Meng Du; Jinsui Yu; Yaozhang Yang; Fei Yan and Zhiyi Chen from the Third Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, Guangzhou, China and Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Shenzhen, China, review the use of microbes in oncology.
A new clinical study has found that erlotinib, a targeted antitumor agent, has promising potential to improve treatment for cervical cancer. Published early online in CANCER, a peer-reviewed journal of the American Cancer Society, the results indicate that larger trials are warranted to determine whether the drug should become part of standard therapy for women with the disease.
According to a recent study from the University and the University Central Hospital of Helsinki, Finland, no allergy-preventive effect is extended to age 5 years by perinatal supplementation with probiotics in babies at risk for developing allergies; protection is conferred only to Cesarean section babies.
"People who suffer severe chronic kidney disease clearly need support with their diets," she said. "When their kidneys function at less than 30 per cent they often lose their appetites, which can lead to malnutrition and compound their health problems."
