Mylan Inc. today announced that its subsidiary Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc. has launched Voriconazole Tablets, 50 mg and 200 mg, under a previously announced settlement and license agreement with Pfizer Inc. Mylan was the first company to have filed a substantially complete ANDA containing a Paragraph IV certification for Voriconazole Tablets and was awarded 180 days of marketing exclusivity.
NDM-1, the enzyme responsible for antibiotic-resistant "superbugs," has had its structure deciphered by British scientists. NDM-1 (New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase 1) emerged in India three years ago. It has the ability to break up, or hydrolyze, even carbapenems, the strongest class of antibiotics, making them ineffective, and has been found in a wide variety of pathogens. Antibiotic resistance is on the rise. More than 25,000 people in the European Union die every year from bacterial infections.
Latest research shows that dyslexia may be the cause of inability to spot clearly. A study with a small number of participants has revealed that most persons with dyslexia have dominant spots in both their eyes that cause them to see blurred images leading to their confusion with letters and reading, spelling and writing.
