Generex Biotechnology Corporation (www.generex.com), the leader in drug delivery for metabolic diseases through the inner lining of the mouth, today announced that Philip Raskin, MD, of The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, made a presentation in respect of Generex Oral-lyn™, the Company's proprietary buccal insulin spray product, at The Latin America Congress on Controversies to Consensus in Diabetes, Obesity and Hypertension held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, March 11-14, 2010 (www.comtecmed.com/Codhy/argentina).
The spread, or metastasis, of individual breast cancer cells from the main tumor into the blood circulation to the lungs and other body tissues and organs is under the control of a growth factor abbreviated TGFb, according to a study with laboratory mice that will be presented at the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) 49th Annual Meeting, Dec. 5-9, 2009 in San Diego.
Scientists at Luna's nanoWorks Division in Danville, VA, have been developing a portfolio of new candidates based on antioxidant nanomaterials which could lead to a platform technology for treating a wide range of diseases. "One of our new nanomedicine prototypes, after only two weeks of treatment, was found to increase the number of hair follicles fourfold in mice which are born genetically hairless," said Robert Lenk, President of Luna's nanoWorks Division.
Gestational diabetes can be prevented by a simple, easily applicable individualized lifestyle intervention in high-risk women, finds a study led by Helsinki University Hospital and South Karelia Central Hospital, Finland. The results of the study are promising, and in line with previous published T2D prevention studies. The findings may have major health consequences for both the mother and the child.
