The prognosis for individuals with metastatic melanoma (MM) is not good. Several donors to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria "continue to hold back their contributions for this year … adding up to more than $500 million that the Global Fund had been counting on for this year out of a total budget of about $3 billion," the Lancet reports.
In a groundbreaking study led by an eminent molecular biologist at Florida State University, researchers have discovered that as embryonic stem cells turn into different cell types, there are dramatic corresponding changes to the order in which DNA is replicated and reorganized.
Researchers of the Universitat Politècnica de València and the Hospital Universitari i Politècnic La Fe have developed a new application, currently in beta phase, to facilitate the movement of people around the city of Valencia (Spain), specially those who have temporary or permanent reduced mobility. Furthermore, it will warn users of any urban barrier in a simple and intuitive way.
The Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of Health, on behalf of the Government of Canada, has announced it will be providing five million doses of H1N1 flu vaccine to Mexico to help bridge that country's immediate pandemic vaccine requirements. This is not a donation. Mexico will replenish Canada's H1N1 vaccine supply by March 31, 2010.
