New research from Rice University, Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) and the Puget Sound Blood Center (PSBC) has revealed how stresses of flow in the small blood vessels of the heart and brain could cause a common protein to change shape and form dangerous blood clots.
A long-term study of patients who received stem cells to treat angiitis-induced critical limb ischemia (AICLI) shows the cells to be both safe and effective.
Thanks to the generosity of former Warner-Lambert CEO and Chairman Melvin R. Goodes and his family, the Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation has established the only prize specifically recognizing scientists in Alzheimer's drug discovery research. Mr. Goodes—who has been open about his own Alzheimer's diagnosis—is an honorary member of the ADDF's Board of Governors.
Protective immune memory-through B cells, which make antibodies, and/or T cells, which in the case of CD8+ T cells can kill virus-infected cells-can be induced by identical but also by related viruses.
Gilead Sciences, Inc. today announced that the European Commission has granted marketing authorization for two new indications for once-daily Viread (tenofovir disoproxil fumarate).
