In a recent study, researchers from the U.S. examined the vaccine effectiveness against SARS-CoV-2 infections in Puerto Rico.
Bicycle helmets save lives, and their use should be required by law. That's the conclusion of a study to be presented Monday, May 6, at the Pediatric Academic Societies (PAS) annual meeting in Washington, DC.
According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) guidelines released Tuesday it is recommended that pork be cooked to an internal temperature of 145 degrees, 15 degrees cooler than the previous standard.
The hike in Australia's tobacco tax has had an expected effect with almost 300,000 people quitting the habit. The tax increase arrived this April with a 25% rise in tobacco taxes. Polls now confirm that the cost of cigarettes are a powerful lever for improving public health, with only 16 per cent of smokers stating they would "continue to smoke at any price".
Most states, even those opposing the health law in court, appear to be working toward implementation, but Alaska has taken a different path. Meanwhile, members of Congress are looking at ways to expand some of the benefits from the law.
