The vast majority of U.S. doctors (93 percent) reported actively using electronic medical records in an annual survey by Accenture of 3,700 physicians in eight countries: Australia, Canada, England, France, Germany, Singapore, Spain and the United States.
Four sick cows ever discovered in the U.S., the one announced Tuesday being the first since 2006, and no human version of the illness linked to eating U.S. beef, is not enough to worry about. "From simply a public health issue, I put it very, very low," Cornell University food safety expert Martin Wiedmann said of the level of concern about mad cow disease. The Lupus Foundation of America, Inc. (LFA) congratulates Insoo Kang, M.D., Associate Professor of Medicine, Yale University for being selected to receive a $1.2 million research grant from the U.S. Department of Defense's (DoD) Congressionally Directed Peer Reviewed Medical Research Program (PRMRP). The DoD award will fund a three-year study that will investigate whether and why lupus patients make more of the chemical interleukin (IL-27), which causes decreased generation of T cells and is known to play an important role in autoimmunity and lupus.
