February is National Children's Dental Health Month and Communities In Schools of Nevada is proud to recognize their partnership with Future Smiles to provide free dental services to children at their on-site clinic located at the Cunningham Elementary School campus. With fewer and fewer resources, community based programs that are convenient and accessible for families, such as Communities In Schools of Nevada's clinics, are many times the only option for dental and medical care for these students.
As part of a multinational, collaborative effort, researchers from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and scores of other institutions from all over the world have helped identify over 100 locations in the human genome associated with the risk of developing schizophrenia, in what is the largest genomic study published on any psychiatric disorder to date.
Boston Medical Center (BMC), today announced that it has been awarded a Grand Opportunities (GO) grant by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Pathway Genomics Corporation, a San Diego-based CLIA and CAP accredited clinical laboratory that offers genetic testing services globally, today announced it has launched BRCATrueTM, a next-generation sequencing and deletion/duplication analysis that can detect mutations in BRCA1 and BRCA2, the genes linked to breast, ovarian and other types of cancer.
Researchers at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC have identified a cellular response in mice to mild traumatic brain injuries that may lead to seizures.
