Giving new meaning to the term "patient care," the Adaptive Sports Academy at Lerner Children's Pavilion at HSS treated 12 patients, along with some of their siblings, to sand and surf in Long Beach, Long Island.
Autism Speaks' not-for-profit affiliate Delivering Scientific Innovation for Autism has announced new funding for clinical testing of a cognitive video game designed to improve executive function skills in children and adolescents with autism.
School leaders in Elk Grove, California, wanted to leave as little to chance as possible. So they brought nearly 150 voices into their decision-making process, and canvassed the parents of the estimated 63,000 students in the district to ask how they wanted their children taught.
Researchers from the UC San Diego, School of Medicine and colleagues have identified a new gene, ETS-1, that is linked to human congenital heart defects. The landmark study, recently published online in the journal of Human Molecular Genetics, provides important insights into some of the most prevalent forms of congenital heart defects in humans, including ventricular septal defects and potentially hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a uniformly fatal heart abnormality.
Weather forecasts have become less accurate during the COVID-19 pandemic due to the reduction in commercial flights, according to new research.
