A study suggests that the number of pensioners over 75 dying from intracerebral haemorrhagic stroke has increased in the last 25 years due to use of antithrombotic drugs.
Heart disease is the greatest killer in the world today, and it is widely accepted that our genes interact with traditional lifestyle risk factors, such as smoking, obesity and/or a sedentary life to promote an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.
Cedars-Sinai has combined efforts with the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) in Arizona so researchers may offer joint clinical trials and collaborate to develop personalized therapies that could lead to more effective cancer treatments.
"Young people today face greater risks to their physical and mental health than generations past, new research has found, with adolescents in the developing world rapidly acquiring the unhealthy habits of their wealthier counterparts," the Financial Times reports.
Federal overhaul is often compared to Massachusetts' effort, but that state has yet to find a way to curtail health spending.
