Bionomics Limited, a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of innovative therapeutics for the treatment of diseases of the central nervous system (CNS) and cancer, today announced that it has extended its strategic collaboration with Merck & Co., Inc., Kenilworth NJ., (known as MSD outside the United States and Canada) for the discovery and development of drug candidates for the treatment of chronic and neuropathic pain.
EffRx Pharmaceuticals SA today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved BINOSTO (alendronate sodium) Effervescent Tablets, previously known as EX101, for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women, and as a treatment to increase bone mass in men with osteoporosis. EffRx anticipates that BINOSTO will be commercially available in the United States in the third quarter of 2012.
Physicians at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and colleagues have discovered that administering the antibiotic azithromycin alongside the standard recommended antibiotic regimen, cefazolin, reduces infection rates by 50 percent for women who have a non-elective cesarean delivery.
