The University of Adelaide has been awarded $23.2 million for new research tackling some of the world's most significant health problems, including one of the biggest killers of children: preterm birth.
Educating people with diabetes in a primary-care setting with sustained, comprehensive intervention resulted in significant improvement in disease management and overall health, according to a study published in the current issue of Diabetes Care, a journal of the American Diabetes Association (ADA).
When people with Type 2 diabetes are diagnosed with cancer - a disease for which they are at higher risk - they ignore their diabetes care to focus on cancer treatment, according to new Northwestern Medicine- research. But uncontrolled high blood sugar is more likely to kill them and impairs their immune system's ability to fight cancer.
ZIOPHARM Oncology, Inc., announced today that The Committee for Orphan Medicinal Products (COMP) within the European Medicines Agency (EMA) adopted a positive opinion for darinaparsin (Zinapar™ or ZIO-101) designation as an orphan medicinal product for the treatment of peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL).
Almost 1 million young adults have signed on to new health insurance policies, government statistics released Wednesday show. Government officials credit the new federal health care law for making that possible. A survey by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that the number of Americans ages 19 to 25 without insurance fell to 9.1 million in the first three months of 2011 from 10 million in 2010.
