Most fingertip injuries can be treated without surgery, research from a large New York City public hospital suggests.
New guidelines from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) emphasize fluid replacement and acclimatization to the heat, as well as practice uniform and other modifications in order to reduce the risk for heat exhaustion and exertional heat stroke in young football players.
John F. Strang, PsyD, a pediatric neuropsychologist at Children's National Health System, and colleagues, found that children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) were more likely to exhibit gender variance, the wish to be the other gender, than children with no neurodevelopmental disorder, or a medical neurodevelopmental disorder such as epilepsy or neurofibromatosis.
Johns Hopkins scientists have developed a reliable method to turn the clock back on blood cells, restoring them to a primitive stem cell state from which they can then develop into any other type of cell in the body.
A UK study published in this week's issue of THE LANCET provides further evidence that measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) immunisation is not associated with the development of autism or other pervasive developmental disorders (PDDs) in children.
