Allos Therapeutics, Inc. today announced the launch of an international registry designed to address the urgent need to better understand treatment patterns and outcomes for patients with peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL). The registry, known as COMPLETE (Comprehensive Oncology Measures for Peripheral T-cell Lymphoma Treatment), is a global observational study that will enroll patients with newly-diagnosed PTCL and obtain data regarding longitudinal treatment patterns and outcomes.
Since its discovery several decades ago, the insidious human pathogen has stymied the quest for anti-viral therapies by refusing to reproduce in test tubes for more than a few hours or days, denying scientists an efficient virus production and infection system for experimental research.
Press registration is now open for Transcatheter Valve Therapies: An Advanced Scientific and Clinical Workshop (with LAA Occlusion) at http://www.tvtconference.com/conference/press-registration.html. TVT is a unique educational event, offering an in-depth review of the diagnostic and therapeutic options for the treatment of valvular heart disease.
After a transplant - and to assure that the new organ is not rejected - patients are put on life-long therapy to suppress their immune system, which, nevertheless, needs to be left intact enough to be able to defend the body against all kinds of disease. A tricky balance as the many rejected organs attest. But a discovery by Maria Monteiro and Luis Graça, two Portuguese scientists, could change all this, at least for the liver.
With money tight, congressional appropriators rarely insist that agencies spend money. Yet the omnibus spending bill passed Dec. 17 approved $100 million for a joint Pentagon and Department of Veterans Affairs effort to develop digital medical records -; even though they missed deadlines for requesting the money.
