NYU Langone Medical Center today announced that the Paolo and Marlene Fresco Foundation (Fresco Foundation) has generously given $25 million to establish the international Marlene and Paolo Fresco Institute for Parkinson's & Movement Disorders.
A consortium of scientists from both campuses of The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) has been awarded $2.7 million from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences of the National Institutes of Health to study the structural rules that govern a large superfamily of proteins that help regulate critical functions such as reproduction, development and metabolism.
Ellex Medical Lasers Limited, a global leader in the design and manufacture of ophthalmic laser and ultrasound systems, today announced that it will introduce the latest version of the Eye Cubed(TM) diagnostic ultrasound system at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), October 24 - 27, 2009 in San Francisco.
In the powerful sunlight of July, newly published results from a large study of people at high risk for basal cell carcinoma support the emerging view of the nation's most common cancer as a chronic ailment that often repeatedly afflicts older people but for which the seeds may be planted in youth.
