At last, the pendulum has swung back to accepting breastfeeding as the norm in infant feeding. Interestingly, this has come about not because of recognition of its natural role in infant care, but because of the revelation of how much it costs the earth to produce "unnecessary formula" for babies and young children, according to a new study published in the British Medical Journal.
A study released today in Pediatrics by The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia offers updated evidence that children ages 4 to 8 who are restrained in the rear seat of a car in a belt-positioning booster seat are 45 percent less likely to be injured in a crash compared with children using a seat belt alone. Furthermore, the study showed there was no difference in the level of protection offered by backless versus high back booster seats.
Argos Therapeutics today announced that, in an interim analysis of a Phase 2 trial, its Arcelis immunotherapy targeted at HIV, AGS-004, demonstrated a significant reduction in viral load and a delay in viral rebound kinetics during a 12-week antiretroviral treatment interruption (ARTI) when compared to pre-ART viral loads.
Microline Surgical, Inc., a leading manufacturer of reposable instruments for minimally invasive surgery, announced today that it has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its Flexible Ligating Shears, enabling surgeons to effectively cut and seal soft tissue.
Nearly all of the Postal Service's products produced revenue increases, but the agency is in debt because of a congressional requirement that it pay about $5 billion into a future retiree health care fund.
