In response to the growing humanitarian crisis in Tiaz and Hodeida governorates, and the rising number of civilian injuries in the southern governorates of Yemen, WHO is coordinating a rapid response to provide emergency health access to the injured, internally displaced persons and host communities.
For the first time ever, a surgical team led by Alan Hemming, MD, has successfully performed a domino transplant using a liver with a rare genetic disorder called methylmalonic acidemia.
Scientists have identified new sub-types of cells that, when they interact, accelerate the scarring process in diseased livers.
In a message setting a "very clear moral and ethical priority for the new Government as it chairs the G8 summit", the leader of the UK's doctors, BMA Chairman James Johnson yesterday (Monday 27 June) criticised developed countries for draining skilled health professionals from some of the world's poorest countries. The "rape of the poorest countries must stop" he said.
