The University of Maryland School of Nursing in Baltimore is "uniquely poised" to spearhead a new collaborative Center for Pain Studies funded by a $2.4 million, five-year federal grant, said Susan Dorsey, PhD, RN, director of the center.
Massachusetts lawmakers are expected to vote Tuesday on long-awaited legislation to rein in health care costs. The effort, which would put the state again at the forefront of health policy, will be watched by other states looking to control spiraling costs. After months of debate, House and Senate leaders filed a bipartisan compromise bill of more than 350 pages Monday night that would seek to contain health-care costs by setting a target at which overall state health spending should rise.
Energy use in buildings accounts for nearly two-thirds of the greenhouse gas emissions generated in Detroit, while exhaust from cars, trucks and buses is responsible for about 30 percent of the total, according to a new citywide inventory compiled by University of Michigan student researchers.
Health IT Certification, LLC announced today that three federally designated Health Information Technology Regional Extension Centers will offer Health Information Technology, Electronic Health Record and Health Information Exchange training and certification programs to their staff, physician practices and implementation partners. More than 2,400 individuals have taken advantage of these programs since 2005.
Geisinger has exceeded the national benchmark for testing women who are at risk for developing osteoporosis - a silent and serious disease.
