Having recently discovered a set of powerful gene regulators that control cell identity in a few mouse and human cell types, Whitehead Institute scientists are now showing that these regulators-which they named "super-enhancers"-act across a vast array of human cell types and are enriched in mutated regions of the genome that are closely associated with a broad spectrum of diseases.
IOS Press is pleased to announce the 20th anniversary of the peer-reviewed journal Restorative Neurology and Neuroscience. Since founded in 1989 by pioneering neuroscientist Donald G. Stein, RNN has focused on the emerging field of brain plasticity, repair and rehabilitation and has published not only numerous original scientific publications, but also review papers in basic research (animal experiments, in vitro studies) and in the clinical sciences.
Catalyst Health Solutions, Inc. today announced it has completed its acquisition of Walgreens' pharmacy benefit management (PBM) subsidiary, Walgreens Health Initiatives, Inc. (WHI). Catalyst funded the transaction with a combination of cash on hand and amounts available under its credit facility.
Abbott today announced positive six-month results from the first 45 patients enrolled in the second stage of the ABSORB trial, which was presented during the Late-Breaking Clinical Trials session at the EuroPCR 2010 conference. At six months, Abbott's bioresorbable vascular scaffold (BVS) demonstrated strong results, with a low (4.4 percent) rate of major adverse cardiac events (MACE) and no blood clots (thromboses).
