On Tuesday, October 26, 2010, the Melanoma Foundation of New England will be hosting Shades of Hope - a fundraising gala to be held at the InterContinental Boston Hotel. The Foundation's signature event, Shades of Hope is dedicated to those who inspire the foundation to educate the public on one of the deadliest forms of cancer.
The National Institute of Aging, part of the National Institutes of Health, and the Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation awarded five-year grants of $3.2 million and $1.4 million, respectively, to scientists from Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health to study the therapeutic potential of the anti-cancer drug lenalidomide in early-stage Alzheimer's disease, known as mild cognitive impairment.
An international team of researchers has discovered the mutation responsible for a rare, newly identified genetic disorder that causes craniofacial abnormalities and developmental delays.
Historically, from the 1930's to the 1950's, the rate of cardiovascular disease in high-income countries was high. Since the mid-1970's, the rate of cardiovascular disease has declined in high income countries, possibly due to socioeconomic inequalities and better management of risk factors for coronary heart disease among the wealthy.
The Super Tuesday presidential primaries have left only two major Democratic candidates standing: former Vice President Joe Biden and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. Whoever prevails to face off against President Donald Trump in November will shape how the party confronts Republicans on health care.
