The Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI), the largest academic clinical research organization in the world, is partnering with Kaplan EduNeering, a leading provider of compliance and knowledge-management solutions, in a novel educational program to address one of the most vexing problems encountered when conducting clinical trials abroad - the absence of a ready and fully trained professional infrastructure to get the work done.
More than 15 years ago Edward Stricker and Joseph Verbalis reported that oxytocin (OT) is involved in the neural control of food and salt intake in adult rats. Linda Rinaman at the University of Pittsburgh is investigating the anatomical organization of this system, and also is taking a developmental approach to determine how OT modulates eating and digestion.
InVivo Therapeutics today announced that the Company has submitted an Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for a proprietary biopolymer scaffolding device to protect and support spinal tissue and prevent secondary injury, including inflammation and glial scarring, following traumatic spinal cord injury.
Split liver transplantation (SLT) provides an opportunity to divide a donor liver and offer transplants to two small patients, one or both of whom could be a child. SLT, which is underused in the United States, could be used more widely to decrease the number of deaths of people on transplant waiting lists.
