York University in Ontario, Canada this month announced the establishment of The Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health, in honour of Victor Dahdaleh - a prominent UK-based Canadian business leader and York alumnus who recently donated $20m to the University.

HeartWare International, Inc., a leading innovator of less invasive, miniaturized circulatory support technologies that are revolutionizing the treatment of advanced heart failure, today announced that it has received approval from Health Canada, the country's federal department responsible for helping Canadians maintain their health, to market the HeartWare Ventricular Assist System as a bridge to heart transplantation in patients with end-stage heart failure.
Approximately 20% of all breast cancer patients have overexpression of HER2 (human epidermal growth factor receptor 2), resulting in a more aggressive phenotype, and a poor prognosis.
In this Lancet editorial, Giuseppe Raviola, Anne Becker and Paul Farmer, professors with the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School, write, "Unprecedented opportunities to promote excellence and equity in health care delivery for the world's most underserved populations are upon us," but "delivery of mental health services in low-resource settings lags unacceptably and unjustly far behind that of other services."
