Cipher Pharmaceuticals Inc. today announced its financial and operational results for the three and six months ended June 30, 2010.
Biodesix, Inc., a company developing and commercializing molecular diagnostics for personalized medicine, announced today that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has awarded to the Company patent number 7,736,905. The patent provides coverage for the Company's first product, VeriStrat®, which is used by physicians to help guide therapy for patients with advanced lung cancer. The allowed claims are directed towards the serum-based identification of patients likely to benefit from epidermal growth factor targeted therapy.
While tight swaddling may provide a newborn infant with a feeling of warmth and security, studies have found that regularly wrapping a child too tightly in a blanket or cloth may lead to an abnormal development of the hip joint, causing the ball of the hip to dislocate from the hip socket.
New hope for deadly pediatric brain tumors; opening the door to improved diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy in children; and advanced genetic testing to better understand the causes of autism and cancer in kids. These research projects are currently underway at Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA under the umbrella of the UCLA Children's Discovery and Innovation Institute (CDI), and aim to dramatically improve the lives of children with serious illnesses.
Dr. Katerina Johnson, who conducted her Ph.D. in the University's Department of Experimental Psychology, was researching the science of that 'gut feeling' - the relationship between the bacteria living in the gut (the gut microbiome) and behavioral traits.
