Researchers at NYU Langone Medical Center have created stem cells from the eggs of aging mice that could be used for reproductive purposes and regenerative medicine. The study, published in April issue of Aging Cell, found that even though the eggs from older females were slightly less efficient at making stem cells than those from younger females, the capacity to create stem cells was sustained.
Virginia Commonwealth University Massey Cancer Center researchers recently conducted a study that found low-income and uninsured women in states that are not expanding their Affordable Care Act Medicaid coverage are less likely to receive breast and cervical cancer screenings compared to states that are implementing expansions.
Halozyme Therapeutics, Inc. today announced that Roche has completed patient enrollment for the pivotal Phase 3 study of Herceptin SC (trastuzumab subcutaneous), a subcutaneous formulation that uses Halozyme's Enhanze™ technology (rHuPH20, recombinant human hyaluronidase).
Novavax, Inc. reported today that results from a pre-clinical toxicology study of its vaccine candidate to prevent respiratory syncytial virus, showed the vaccine to be safe and well-tolerated at all doses tested. Novavax's vaccine uses highly purified recombinant particles of RSV-F fusion protein normally found in the virus. There is currently no approved vaccine to prevent RSV infection.
