Switzerland-based CARBOGEN AMCIS AG, a pharmaceutical process development and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing company, has expanded its service portfolio and capacity for stability studies. In compliance with the latest International Conference on Harmonisation (ICH) guidelines, and in response to customer demand, the company has installed new stability chambers at the Hunzenschwil (Neuland), Switzerland operations and offers short-term, long-term, accelerated, intermediate, follow-up and customized tests.
Genetic research conducted at LSU Health New Orleans School of Medicine and Stanley S. Scott Cancer Center demonstrated for the first time that a novel protein can cause normal cells in the lining of the colon to become malignant, grow and spread, as well as take on the characteristics of stem cells.
The sweetgum tree grows widely throughout the country and is known for its mace-like green fruit, which are sometimes called "gumballs." Now, this spiny fruit may become an important source of a chemical needed to make a lifesaving drug against bird flu - a drug that is currently in short supply worldwide, researchers say.
