Hesperos, Inc., announced today the receipt of a NIH Phase I Small Business Innovation Research grant from the National Institutes of Health National Institute on Aging to help create a new multi-organ "human-on-a-chip" model that can realistically mimic the biology of Alzheimer's Disease and the effects of potential new therapies under realistic human physiological conditions.
GENFIT, a biopharmaceutical company at the forefront of drug discovery and development, focusing on the early diagnosis and preventive treatment of cardiometabolic and neurodegenerative diseases, today announces positive results from a recently completed clinical trial demonstrating the activity of GFT505 on glucose homeostasis. Results from the clinical trial (GFT505-2094) clearly demonstrate the potential of the drug candidate to reduce global cardiovascular risk in prediabetic patients who suffer from impaired fasting plasma glucose, impaired glucose tolerance, and abdominal obesity.
Thirty percent of the home health care workers' compensation cases managed by Total Medical Solutions (TMS) were discharged prior to the "order-end date," the last date the physician had anticipated that services would be required.
Electroconvulsive therapy, which may be effective at lowering long-term risks of suicide and death among patients with certain mood disorders, may result in longer hospital stays and increased health care costs, according to Penn State College of Medicine researchers.
