This is the finding of research by Dr Michael Duncan and colleagues at Coventry University presented today, Thursday 8 May 2014, at the British Psychological Society annual conference at the International Convention Centre, Birmingham.
"An Afghan woman can expect to have an average 5.1 babies in her lifetime, the highest fertility rate in Asia," Reuters writes in the first of two articles examining childbirth and maternal mortality in Afghanistan. The news service adds that "giving birth a common, and frequent experience - but mothers say it is too often also hard, lonely and frightening."
Self-care can be broadly defined to include measures taken by an individual in the pursuit of obtaining or maintaining good health. It ranges from healthy eating and exercise to good hygiene practices to appropriate use of products such as dietary supplements and over-the-counter medicines to accessing health promoting services.
The ARC Centre of Excellence for Integrative Legume Research (CILR) has lodged a complete patent application for compounds to treat cancer.
