Scientists at the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine have recently developed a process that may change the way cancer of the appendix is treated in the future.
Epigenomics AG , the cancer diagnostics company, and Predictive Biosciences, a commercial stage, fully-integrated developer of novel molecular diagnostic cancer assays and a provider of anatomic pathology laboratory products and services, today announced that they have extended their licensing agreement for the prostate cancer biomarker GSTP1, originally signed in April 2009.
Researchers of the Human Molecular Genetics group at the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute, led by Dr. Sara Larriba, in collaboration with Dr. Francesc Vigués and Dr. Manel Castells of the Urology Service of Bellvitge University Hospital, show the usefulness of certain molecules, the miRNAs in semen, as non-invasive biomarkers for prostate cancer.
Benefits paid out under employer-sponsored health care plans are less generous to families covering a member with a chronic illness than to families without a chronically ill member, according to a trio of university researchers. The difference is due primarily to higher out-of-pocket expenses for prescription drugs.
