Wolters Kluwer Health today announced it has entered into an expanded distribution agreement with the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), the "gold standard" for quality biomedical research and for the best practices in clinical medicine.
According to the American Hospital Association, more than 80 percent of hospitals have yet to achieve the first stage of electronic health record "meaningful use" and, therefore, can't qualify for federal incentive payments.
Silencing the TLR4 gene can stop the process which may lead to cardiovascular disease in diabetic patients. Researchers demonstrated that TLR4 plays a critical role in hyperglycaemic cardiac apoptosis, and that silencing the gene using specific small interfering RNA can prevent it.
Professor Howard Jenkinson in the Department of Oral & Dental Science (Dental School) at the University of Bristol has been awarded a grant of £285,000 from The Wellcome Trust to research ways to combat diseases caused by Streptococcus bacteria.
