Glioblastomas grow extremely aggressively into healthy brain tissue and, moreover, are highly resistant to radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Heart disease is the number one killer of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), and vascular calcification is thought to play a major role.
Aetna today announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Prodigy Health Group, the nation's largest independent third party administrator of self-funded health care plans.
Much of our knowledge of the brain's role in regulating breathing comes from research with mice and rats. A chemical receptor within the brain stem communicates with the central nervous system to generate the basic pattern of breathing. The next step is applying that information to human tissue to identify these critical components in the human brain and their medical implications.
Around 200 men – including men who smoke – are being sought by researchers in Adelaide, South Australia to take part in a new study aimed at preventing cancer and other health problems.
