The National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced today that Martin J. Blaser, MD, the Frederick H. King Professor of Internal Medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center has been awarded one of only twenty NIH Director's Transformative Research Projects (T-R01) award for research entitled "Disappearing Gastrointestinal Microbiota in Epidemic Obesity.
In the past few years, a number of anti-cancer drugs have been developed which are directed selectively against specific key molecules of tumor cells.
Researchers at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and the University of Memphis recently published an article in the American Journal of Men's Health which found that men and their health providers are not having important discussions when it comes to prostate cancer screening and treatment.
People with type 2 diabetes who intensively controlled their blood sugar level during the landmark Action to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes (ACCORD) Trial Eye Study were found to have cut their risk of diabetic retinopathy in half in a follow-up analysis conducted four years after stopping intensive therapy.
