Researchers from Keele University have been selected to present their work on the quest for a life-like prosthetic hand at the Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition.
How did the simple act of eating become so difficult? Between basic nutrition, the obesity epidemic, allergies, food recalls, and chemical contaminants, feeding children a healthy diet has never been so complicated. Eat Healthy, a new program from Healthy Child Healthy World, makes it easy.
Every day, thousands of people need donated blood. But only blood without A- or B-type antigens, such as type O, can be given to all of those in need, and it's usually in short supply. Now scientists are making strides toward fixing the situation. In ACS' Journal of the American Chemical Society, they report an efficient way to transform A and B blood into a neutral type that can be given to any patient.
Southern Nevada residents in need of emergency medical care for a stroke may benefit from a Mayo Clinic "telestroke" program that is now available at all three campuses of Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican (Rose de Lima, Siena and San Martín).
A report of two young children with burns of the esophagus caused by swallowed button batteries from "fidget spinners" highlights a risk of severe injuries involving these popular toys, according to a series of reports in the January/February Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition.
