The White House has decided to allow an extra 24 hours for people to sign up for insurance on HealthCare.gov, through the end of the day Tuesday, to receive coverage beginning on Jan. 1, according to a senior official familiar with the change. The official deadline for getting insurance remains 11:59 p.m. on Monday. But because of record traffic on the website Monday morning, officials wanted to reassure the public -; and themselves -; that people who sought coverage in good faith would be covered (Shear, 12/23).
Amgen today announced that it will present data from multiple Kyprolis (carfilzomib) for Injection, BLINCYTO (blinatumomab), oprozomib and Nplate (romiplostim) studies at the 20th Congress of the European Hematology Association taking place in Vienna, June 11 - 14, 2015.
EpiCept Corporation has announced that it has filed a New Drug Submission (NDS) with Health Canada for Ceplene® (histamine dihydrochloride) for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients in first complete remission. Health Canada typically accepts or refuses an NDS and designates review status within forty-five days of filing. If accepted, the customary timeframe for completion of review and an approval decision is within one year.
"IDPs" is now a widely used acronym that stands for "intrinsically disordered proteins." Greenwire/New York Times reports on the growing number of cases of dengue worldwide, including the CDC's report last month that the virus has now been locally acquired in the continental U.S. for the first time in 65 years. "While a few cases were reported earlier, they were primarily in Americans who had caught the virus abroad or at the Texas-Mexico border," the news service writes.
