Johns Hopkins engineers and cardiology experts have teamed up to develop a fingernail-sized biosensor that could alert doctors when serious brain injury occurs during heart surgery. By doing so, the device could help doctors devise new ways to minimize brain damage or begin treatment more quickly.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the U.S. has given it's approval for the sale of a new drug to treat diabetes.
Halozyme Therapeutics, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company developing and commercializing products targeting the extracellular matrix, today announced the award of four grants totaling $977,917 under the Qualifying Therapeutic Discovery Project program. The grant funding will support Halozyme's ongoing Ultrafast Insulin, PEGPH20, HTI-501, and drug delivery development programs that are directed at addressing unmet medical needs across a broad range of therapeutic areas such as diabetes, cancer and immunology.
The Endocrine Society and the Pediatric Endocrine Society oppose legislative efforts to block transgender and gender diverse individuals from accessing gender-affirming medical and surgical care, the two medical societies said in a joint policy perspective published in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism.
