To decrease the substantial health and economic burden of migraine on individuals and society, researchers need to examine and address how the disease differs between women and men, according to a report from the Society for Women's Health Research published in the August issue of the Journal of Women's Health.
Cartilage injuries are difficult to repair. Current surgical options generally involve taking a piece from another part of the injured joint and patching over the damaged area, but this approach involves damaging healthy cartilage, and a person's cartilage may still deteriorate with age.
pSivida Corp., a leader in the development of ophthalmic sustained release drug delivery products, today said it had received full payment of a $15 million note, including an additional $225,000 in accrued interest, from Alimera Sciences, Inc., pSivida's licensee developing IluvienĀ® for the treatment of diabetic macular edema (DME).
The Allstate Corporation today announced a quarterly dividend of 20 cents on each outstanding share of the corporation's common stock, payable in cash on Oct. 1, 2010 to stockholders of record at the close of business on Aug. 31, 2010.
"As the United States prepares to drastically increase civilian aid in Pakistan, [USAID,] the agency in charge has asked for help training the local organizations that will spend that aid money, saying those organizations 'do not meet the minimum standards for managing' U.S. government funds," ProPublica reports in a story that examines the challenges associated with channeling aid money for Pakistan away from American contractors and NGOs to Pakistani organizations.
