For the first time, Bochum clinicians have been able to show on the basis of a large sample, that it is possible to examine children's heads in the MRI scanner without general anaesthesia or other medical sedation. In many cases it was sufficient to prepare the young patients for the examination in an age-appropriate manner in order to take away their fear of the tube.
Onconome, Inc. announced today that it was awarded a cash grant totaling approximately $231,000 under the U.S. Government's Qualifying Therapeutic Discovery Project (QTDP) program. The QTDP was enacted as part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010.
Primary-care clinicians know teen depression is common, but they've lacked a reliable screening test for it. Now researchers at the University of Washington (UW), Seattle Children's, and Group Health report the PHQ-9 is a good screening test for major depression in adolescents.
