Cardiopulmonary resuscitation with chest compressions only seems to be the most effective form of resuscitation when delivered by lay bystanders along with public-access automated external defibrillation, research suggests.
Pediatric researchers from Boston Medical Center, in partnership with other Children's HealthWatch investigators in Minneapolis, Little Rock, Philadelphia, and Baltimore, have found that the cumulative effects of crowded and unstable housing and uncertain supplies of food and heat act together to decrease the chances of normal growth and development and good physical health among infants and toddlers.
Hospital alarms are currently ranked as the "top medical technology hazard" within the United States. On average, there are about 480,000 patients in hospitals — each generating about 135 clinical alarms per day. But studies show that more than 90 percent of these alarms result in no action.
