More than 2,000 people have died of cholera in Haiti since late October, Haitian officials said on Monday, the Associated Press/Washington Post reports (12/6). According to Haitian health ministry figures, a total of "2,013 people have died from the water-borne bacterial infection and 88,789 cases have been recorded," Agence France-Presse writes (12/6).
Among six large integrated health care systems between 1996 and 2010 there was a substantial increase in the use of advanced diagnostic imaging, including approximately a tripling of the use of computed tomography and nearly a quadrupling of the use of magnetic resonance imaging, as well as a substantial increase in estimated radiation exposure, according to a study in the June 13 issue of JAMA.
A new study published in the journal 'Science Advances' presents the use of a novel tissue engineering material composed of bioactive injectable hydrogel to speed up the rate of healing in wounded tissues.
St. Jude Medical, Inc. today announced that it has successfully completed its acquisition of AGA Medical Holdings, Inc.
In 2004, 24-year-old Manny Lanza urgently needed surgery for a life-threatening brain condition. But he didn't have insurance, so his hospital refused to schedule the treatment — until it was too late. Manny died waiting.
