Scientists from the universities of Granada and Southampton have designed a new method to reduce noise problems caused by road traffic, one of the main environmental impacts of said roads, and which has important effects on people's health and their physical and psychological well-being.
Enemas are commonly used by men who have sex with men (MSM) and transwomen (TW) before sexual intercourse. But these groups are vulnerable to HIV and a host of other sexually transmitted infections because enemas - even those that use tap water - can seriously damage the thin tissue lining the rectum, allowing for easier transmission of harmful viruses and bacteria.
The American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology has announced the recipients of its 2005 Junior Faculty Career Research Training Award, Residents/Fellows in Radiation Oncology Research Seed Grants, the joint ASTRO/National Cancer Institute Fellowship Faculty Translational Research Award and International Travel Grants. The total value of the awards is $378,000.
Despite being reported over a decade ago, little has been done in America to reduce hospital born infections as per a Health and Human Services department quality report for 2009 to Congress. Hospital acquired infections seem to be on the increase according to the report when compared with statistics available for 2007. The situation is being seen as critical by many health care experts.
