UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School researchers have determined that carbamazepine and oxycarbamazepine, medications commonly used to treat neurologic and psychiatric conditions, increase nicotine metabolism in smokers. As nicotine metabolism increases, cravings for nicotine return more quickly which could lead to more frequent cigarette consumption among individuals who also take these medications.
The 2013 Malignant Hyperthermia (MH) Scientific Conference is being held at the Chestnut Conference Centre, University of Toronto, Canada on November 1st and 2nd, 2013 and is sponsored by Malignant Hyperthermia Association of the United States (MHAUS) in conjunction with The University of Toronto.
"The Taliban have halted an annual polio vaccination campaign in a remote part of Afghanistan, according to a senior official, raising concerns that opposition to the critical immunization drive could be spilling across from insurgent groups in neighboring Pakistan," the Guardian reports.
