Lymphedema is a chronic condition that causes swelling of the limbs and affects physical, mental and social health. It commonly occurs in breast cancer survivors and is the second-most dreaded effect of treatment, after cancer recurrence. Every day, researchers throughout the world learn more about the condition and how it can be treated. Now, University of Missouri researchers are developing a place in cyberspace where relevant and timely information can be easily stored, searched, and reviewed from anywhere with the goal of improving health care through the availability of up-to-date, evidence-based research.
Now, two new studies describe the toll that COVID-19 takes in the heart, increasing the risk of long-term damage even after patients recover. These studies also show that heart damage can even occur in people who did not have severe illness that required hospitalization.
In association with the Billion Hearts Beating Foundation, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals organised a 5-km run titled 'Dil ki Daud'. In a medical breakthrough two blind men have regained partial sight for the first time in more than 20 years after receiving a "bionic eye". Scientists said the first clinical trials of the microchip eye implant, which measures just 3mm across and is fitted behind the eyeball, have proved successful and "exceeded expectations".
