ISCT, the International Society for Cell and Gene Therapy, the global professional society of clinicians, researchers, regulatory specialists, technologists and industry partners in the cell and gene therapy sector, today announces its objection to linking the benefits of cellular immunotherapy, in particular Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy, with recent market offerings for third party cryopreserving and banking of T-cells for future therapeutic use.
The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society in collaboration with 2020health, a leading health social enterprise think tank, today announces the results from Invisible Disease: RA and Chronic Fatigue 2014, a survey of 1,954 people with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), to assess the impact of chronic fatigue on their capability for work, emotional and mental health as well as the overall experience of chronic fatigue caused by their RA.
Women who take oestrogen supplements from before or at the start of menopause and continue with them for a few years have better preserved brain structure, which may reduce the risk of dementia.
The Henry Ford Health System — the largest provider of hospital care in the region — made $60 million last calendar year in spite of a stubborn economy and increasing costs to care for poor and uninsured people, officials announced Thursday. The system's continued success — its eighth consecutive year of financial growth — has made it the largest system in southeast Michigan in revenue and in-patient volume, said Robert Riney, president and chief operating officer for the system.
Republicans talk a lot about how Medicaid block grants could help governors bring down their costs, but they don't talk as much about what, exactly, the states would do with them. It's not that they have no answers. Gov. Haley Barbour of Mississippi has said he'd like to provide home-based care for children with special medical needs, rather than resort to more expensive hospital care, but federal rules get in the way.
