The International Myeloma Foundation - improving the quality of life of myeloma patients while working toward prevention and a cure - said POMALYST (pomalidomide) approval by Health Canada provides patients the most up-to-date oral therapy available for patients who have exhausted all other treatments.
Lyfebulb, the International Pemphigus Pemphigoid Foundation (IPPF) and Immune Pharmaceuticals Inc., announced a collaboration to increase awareness of unmet needs in treating bullous pemphigoid last night at an event attended by more than sixty patients, physicians, scientists and other interested parties.
Insulin is one of the most commonly used therapeutic agents used in diabetes. While the structure of this complex protein has been studied in detail there were parts of the receptor for insulin that were not clearly defined till now. This receptor is a protein that exists on the surfaces of cells and binds to the insulin molecule. These receptors are responsible for the action of insulin on the cells.
The Salk Institute for Biological Studies today announced a generous gift from Mr. Conrad Prebys, a Salk Trustee, to establish the Conrad T. Prebys Endowed Chair in Vision Research for Dr. Tom Albright. As part of their senior scientist endowed chair challenge, Joan and Irwin Jacobs will match the donor's gift with an additional $1,000,000 to establish the donor's named chair at $3,000,000.
