Conflicts and wars not only take their toll on human lives, but also on the local environment. Whilst much publicity is focused on International efforts to help rebuild Afghanistan's economy and social structures, less well known is the - often voluntary - work going on to rebuild the environment, part of which involves the planting of millions of trees, as a more green environment helps to improve the dusty landscape damaged by years of fighting. A review of studies of babies born after in vitro maturation (IVM) fertility treatment has suggested that they are more likely to be born larger than normal and to have more difficult births requiring more obstetric interventions such as caesareans.
United BioSource Corporation (UBC) today announced results from an independent survey that examined late phase product development services delivered by 34 contract research organizations and other scientific and medical affairs companies serving the biopharmaceutical industry. The report, titled 2010 Late Phase Market Dynamics and published by Industry Standard Research (ISR), provided data and analysis from a survey that captured information from 149 respondents, representing 95 companies.
Researchers at Aalto University and the Niilo Mäki Institute have used neuroimaging to pinpoint where the brain activates - or doesn't activate - among children identified as having a high risk of dyslexia. Magnetoencephalography (MEG) has rarely been used to study the reading disorder in children.
