Parents have sought advice on infant-care practices for generations, but a Rutgers-Camden professor is uncovering how those methods have evolved and influenced American culture.
Evidence suggests that severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) can be transmitted without contact by respiratory droplets and aerosols bearing the virus when coughing, sneezing, speaking, and breathing. The virus has been cultured from aerosols collected nearby COVID-19 patients, and such aerosols can linger in still air for hours.
An amendment restricting abortion coverage was also approved. In Connecticut, the state awarded a contract to handle its exchange to a company that has come under fire in the state before.
A new study published in the journal PNAS shows that some sperm cannot swim straight because they lack a protein called VSP. This motility defect seriously impacts the rates of successful fertilization. In addition, VSP is also found to regulate the amount of calcium that enters the flagellum, the whiplike organelle that propels the sperm towards the waiting ovum or egg. This important discovery may help treat infertility more effectively.
ViroStatics, a private Italian/American biopharmaceutical company developing novel therapeutics for viral and other chronic diseases, announced that a review of the first human clinical trial to test a new class of anti-HIV medications known as AntiViral-HyperActivation Limiting Therapeutics (AV-HALTs) has been published in the peer-reviewed journal PLoS ONE.
