Obese adults are admitted to the hospital more frequently and for more days than adults who are normal weight, finds a new study that looks at how being obese leads to a need for more health care services.
Omega Healthcare Investors, Inc. today announced that it has agreed to sell shares of its common stock having an aggregate offering price of $33.3 million pursuant to a terms agreement entered into under the equity distribution agreement, dated June 12, 2009, between the Company and BofA Merrill Lynch in connection with the company's previously reported $100 million Equity Shelf Program.
Some small business owners remain wary of a health law they do not yet clearly understand, The Kansas City Star reports. "Employers with 50 or more employees know this: The new law has employee coverage mandates looming for them in 2014. Employers with fewer than 50 employees will escape the coverage mandate. But they're not resting easy." Business expect costs to increase by between 6 and 40 percent in 2011, and many wonder whether they will be able to continue to afford subsidizing their employees' insurance coverage (Stafford, 9/6).
The potential dangers of electronic cigarettes have members of the Pennsylvania Medical Society concerned, and until more is known about the products, the state's physicians believe they should be treated no differently than tobacco products.
