An international research team led by the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre and Lund University has provided new evidence that aortic valve disease may be preventable.
XOMA Ltd., a leader in the discovery and development of therapeutic antibodies, today announced receipt of the final $2.0 million payment from Kaketsuken under the $8.0 million collaboration announced in November 2009. The agreement involves multiple proprietary XOMA antibody research and development technologies, including a new XOMA phage display library, and a suite of integrated information and data management systems.
Exelixis, Inc. reported longer follow-up data from a fully enrolled cohort of patients with advanced epithelial ovarian cancer, primary peritoneal carcinoma, or fallopian tube carcinoma treated with cabozantinib (XL184) in an ongoing phase 2 adaptive randomized discontinuation trial. Cabozantinib shows promising activity in these patients independent of prior response to platinum-based therapies.
A new study shows as many as one in 20 children were still receiving codeine to treat pain after tonsil and adenoid surgery, two years after federal regulators warned doctors that prescribing the opioid to kids after the routine surgeries could be fatal.
