The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer has joined with the Pennsylvania Health Care Quality Alliance to make cancer quality data from participating Pennsylvania hospitals available to the public. The initiative, which is the first of its kind in the U.S., will include data from 72 percent (52 programs) of all CoC-accredited cancer programs in Pennsylvania.
Transfers from the nursing home to the emergency department (ED) or the hospital can have negative longer-term impact on the health of older adults.
GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), the World Health Organisation's Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (WHO-TDR) and the Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) today announced the signing of a collaborative agreement, to develop a new-fixed dose artemisinin combination therapy drug (ACT), combining chlorproguanil, dapsone and artesunate (CDA) for the treatment of malaria.
GTx, Inc. today announced that a per protocol interim safety review on Friday, October 26, 2012, by an independent Data Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) recommended that GTx continue clinical development as planned with its two pivotal Phase III trials of enobosarm (GTx-024) for the prevention and treatment of muscle wasting in patients with non-small cell lung cancer.
