A group of UK academics are calling for targets for mental health in order to meet the healthcare challenges of the next decade.
Employment gaps may promote but also reduce cognitive function in older age, as new research from the University of Luxembourg has shown. In particular, some of the findings suggest that leaves reported as unemployment and sickness are associated with higher risk of cognitive impairment indicating that these kinds of employment gaps may decrease cognitive reserve in the long run.
Physicians across the US are speaking out on Sermo (http://www.sermo.com), the largest online physician community, discussing the President's newly announced support for malpractice reform. According to a new survey conducted on Sermo of 3,102 US physicians, 87% stated they are more inclined to support a healthcare reform bill that includes malpractice reform.
Biologists at the California Institute of Technology have pinpointed molecular changes that helped allow the global spread of resistance to the antiviral medication Tamiflu (oseltamivir) among strains of the seasonal H1N1 flu virus.
