A new solution developed by IBM ( IBM), Novartis and Vodafone with the Roll Back Malaria Partnership, is helping to save lives using everyday technology to improve the availability of anti-malarial drugs in remote areas of Tanzania.
Diabetes is linked to an increased risk of developing cancer, and now researchers have performed a unique meta-analysis that excludes all other causes of death and found that diabetic patients not only have an increased risk of developing breast and colon cancer but an even higher risk of dying from them.
The global AIDS epidemic continues to grow and there is concerning evidence that some countries are seeing a resurgence in new HIV infection rates which were previously stable or declining. However, declines in infection rates are also being observed in some countries, as well as positive trends in young people's sexual behaviours.
The Gerontological Society of America - the nation's largest interdisciplinary organization devoted to the field of aging - has chosen Karen Fredriksen-Goldsen, PhD, FGSA, of the University of Washington as the 2018 recipient of the Maxwell A. Pollack Award for Productive Aging.
